An Analysis of Nasreddin Hodja Anectodes from Text Centered Folklore Theories to Diffusion and Evolution Theories
Abstract :
Nasreddin Hodja Anecdotes, which have an important place in oral narrative tradition, spread out to various regions for many different reasons and formed an immense corpus of anecdotes with the updated and recreated anecdotes again within the oral tradition. It is possible to see Nasreddin Hodja anecdotes in many places; they are not only seen within the Turkic areas. This is an important point which shows the universal characteristic of these anecdotes. The spread and presence of Nasreddin Hodja anecdotes in various places are addressed by a lot of researchers. In this context, this study will focus on the analysis of Nasreddin Hodja anecdotes according to diffusion and evolution theories, which are the text centered folklore theories and how they spread and exist in other societies.
