Title Of Article :
Comparison of Some Performance Traits of Yıgılca Local Honey Bee with Caucasian and Anatolian Crosses
Abstract :
The aim of this study was to determine of some performance traits of Yıgılca local honey bee which is a Western Black Sea Region genotype and to compare with Caucasian and Anatolian honey bee crosses under Western Black Sea Region conditions. Total of 34 colonies were used in the experiment; 10 colonies of Yıgılca honey bee genotype, 12 colonies of Caucasian honey bee cross and12 colonies of Anatolian honey bee cross. Groups were compared in terms of the survival rate, flying activity, honey production and pollen collecting capability. According to the results the lowest survival rate was determined in Caucasian group. Although there were no differences between the groups for flying activity and pollen collecting capability, colonies of Yıgılca local honey bee showed higher performance than other groups in terms of honey production. The results demonstrated that Yıgılca local honey bee which had a high honey production is a valuable genotype.
