Abstract :
The research was carried out to determine the effects on grain yield, yield components and protein content of bread wheat in an arid condition of Isparta province during 2010/11 and 2011/12 growing seasons. The experiment was set up according to a Randomized Complete Block Design in a split-plot arrangement with three replicates, where fertilizer practices were in the main plots while the wheat cultivars were in subplots split within the main plots. For the wheat cultivars, while the highest ear yield, its components and protein content were obtained from Altay-2000 cultivar, the lowest was determined at the Sultan and Yildiz cultivar in both years. For the fertilizer practices, while the conventional fertilizer practice resulted in the highest ear yield and yield components and protein content however the lowest level was determined same features for the seaweed application in both years. The highest ear length (9.3 and 11.8 cm), number of kernels per ear (51.7 and 58.0 grain), 1000 grain weight (37.5 and 38.8 g), grain yield (3733 and 3847 kg ha-1) and protein content (12.6 and 12.5 %) were obtained from the conventional fertilizer on Altay-2000 in both 2010/11 and 2011/12, respectively. The highest hectoliter weight was determined from conventional fertilizer on Altay-2000 (77.0 kg) and Sultan (78.7 kg) cultivars in both years, respectively. The highest ear number per m2 (374.1 and 388.6) was obtained from Yildiz with the conventional fertilizer in both years. Generally, the lowest ear yield, yield components and protein content were resulted fromhumic acid and seaweed application for all cultivars. The lowest ear number per m2 was recorded forhumic acid and cattle manure applications in 2010/11 and 2011/12.
