Evaluation of the Landscape and Recreational Potential of Simav Town of Kütahya

In this study, recreational characteristics of Simav Town of Kütahya were evaluated and landscape potential of close-vicinity recreational sites was investigated. General information about recreational sites of Eynel hot springs, Gölcük and Hisarbey small dams, general shortcomings of these sites and demand characteristics were gathered by surveys with 200 people. Individual surveys were performed about these sites with a rich landscape potential. Information gathered with these surveys were evaluated, problems and shortcomings of these sites were determined and possible solutions toward these problems were investigated. Recommendations were made to provide better services at these sites and to provide sustainability of them. Survey results revealed that Eynal hot springs was the most preferred recreational site with 48%. Preference for this recreational site was 70% due to closeness and easy access, 41% due to scenic beauty, 25% due to natural water resources and 24% due to hygiene. Security has the first place with 57% in preferences of women. About 46% of survey participants preferred to visit recreational sites at summer and seaside preference was at 27% level.
