Abstract :
This study was conducted to determine the effects of different nitrogen doses applications on turf performance of some perennial ryegrass cultivars in Agricultural Research and Applied Center of Suleyman Demirel University in Turkey, during 2014-15 years. The research was conducted in randomized block design with three replications. Three perennial ryegrass cultivars; Cutter, Troya and Stravinsky were used with four nitrogen levels (0, 2, 4 and 6 g m² mount^-1) applied in this research. At the end of the study, speed of germination (day), ground cover speed (day), ground cover rate (1-9 point), leaf texture (1-9 point), winter endurance (1-9 point), leaf color (1-9 point), regeneration power (1-5 point), tiller number per dm², dry matter yield (kg ha^-1) and general appearance (1-9 point) were determined. According to results, Cutter and Stravinsky cultivars showed the best performance in terms of speed of emergence, leaf color, regeneration power and infrequency degree. The best performances in terms of ground cover speed, tiller number, dry matter yield and nitrogen content were observed from Stravinsky cultivar. Cutter showed the best performance in terms of general appearance among the cultivars. Nitrogen applications have effected the turf performance significantly. Increasing N fertilization doses increased the cold tolerance, ground cover rate, leaf color, regeneration power, tiller number, general appearance, dry matter yield and nitrogen contents of cultivars.
