Abstract :
In this study it has been aimed to investigate the optimum friction stir spot welding (FSSW) parameters for EN AW – 5005 aluminium alloy plates. The interactions of welding parameters affecting welding performance of FSSW joints were determined. According to the results of the experimental study it have been determined that FSSW tool penetration parameter has the most significant effect on spot welding joints. The shear strength of FSSW joints was observed to increase as the tool penetration depth increased. The results of the experimental study showed that the optimum welding parameters levels for FSSW were 2,6 mm tool penetration depth, 1500 rev/min tool rotation and 10 s welding time.
