Title Of Article :
BIOMIMETIC CALCIUM PHOSPHATE COATING OF TITANIUM ALLOY
Abstract :
In this study, hydroxyapatite (HA) was coated on Ti6Al4V, which is a widely used titanium alloy in biomedical applications, via biomimetic method. For the coating process, Ti6Al4V plates were immersed into simulated body fluid (SBF) with an ionic concentration of 1.5 times that of conventional SBF at 37°C. In 1.5×SBF, the entire surface was successfully coated with a calcium phosphate (CaP) layer after 2 weeks. The surface morphology of the coated plates was studied by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and it was shown that the CaP coating was initiated in the form of half spheres and grew up continuously. The molecular structure of the coatings was determined by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and the coatings showed the IR spectrum of carbonated hydroxyapatite regardless of the soaking time.
