Abstract :
In this study, considering the example of Fırat University, the organizations’ cultural trends that the academicians associate and prefer are analyzed under the framework of Cameron and Quinn’s “competitive values model”. In the model, there are four organizational culture types such as clan, adhocracy, hierarchy, and market culture. The academic personals are required to distribute the 100 point to the statements related to the each organizational culture types. In the study, it is revealed to what extent the academic staffs associate their institutions with those four organizational culture types and their amount is also determined among these four types and the available case is compared with the expected one. The data of the 150 academicians are gathered in November and December of 2009. According to the result of the research, the academic staff associate their institutions with the hierarchy and market culture mostly, however, it is uttered that the culture type that is to be dominant is the adhocracy and clan. It is also ascertained that the demographic variables do have no meaningful effect on the organizational types desired and associated with the institutions worked.
