RESEARCHING PROSPECTIVE PRIMARY TEACHER’S VAN HIELE GEOMETRIC THINKING LEVELS ACCORDING TO SOME VARIABLES (GRADUATION TYPE OF HIGH SCHOOL, HIGH SCHOOL SPHERE, HIGH SCHOOL AVERAGE, ÖSS (ÖĞRENCI SEÇME SINAVI) POINTS, UNIVERSITY ACADEMIC AVERAGE AND SEX)
Abstract :
This study is accordance to obtain van Hiele geometric thinking level of students that studying in primary teaching field and to look significance between this level with graduation type of high school, high school sphere, high school average, ÖSS(Öğrenci Seçme Sınavı) points, university academic average and sex. This research applied on 138 primary teaching students that chosen randomly which have been taken Mathematics Education II Lesson in one of the government education facility at Ankara in 2006-2007 education years, second semester. This research is investigation model of quantitative research methods and also it is descriptive research. The used data collection tool were van Hiele Geometric Thinking Levels Scale and demographic knowledge form which developed by researchers. In data analysis, on SPSS (Statistical Package for social Sciences) program’s frequency, percentage, crosstabs, independent sample T-test and independent sample One-Way Anova techniques have been used. When we have looked the findings between van Hiele geometry thinking levels and sex variable the significance differences have been gained and other variables haven’t. Direction of these findings, deficiencies could able to explain and suggestions have been presented.
