ISSUES CONCERNING SUPERVISOR PROFILE

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to provide a profile of primary level supervisors. The sample of this study included 128 supervisor views in 40 provinces of throughout Turkey. The study was a decriptive one and in the data analysis in addition to descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Chi-square were used. Supervisors indicated that the quality of teachers was the most important problem in the Turkish Education System; formal supervisor training would be appropriate; a compresensive and systematic training in guidance, communication and leadership was needed; they pervceived the importance of internet and communication technologies and need training in this area; they spent the majority of their time in activities other than teaching. Suggestions were made based on these findings. Other daily activities take a big portion of their time, supervisors should be required to spend at least ¼ th of their time in teaching an learning activities.
