TEACHERS AND TEACHER CANDIDATES’ AWERANESS LEVEL ABOUT GENERAL GOALS AND PRINCIPLES OF TURKISH NATIONAL EDUCATION

This study aimed at determining the awareness levels of teachers and candidate teachers about The Overall Objectives and Principles of National Education (OOPNE). This is a descriptive study. The questionnaire forms were applied to 429 teachers and 266 candidate teachers. Results show that the candidate teachers are more aware of the OOPNE. Other surprising results are found as that low awareness level of Atatürk‟s principles, higher awareness level of teachers who haven‟t got principalship experience and engineering faculty graduates. On the basis of results, it may be recommended to be a criterion of to know OOPNE in the supervision of the teachers.
