Abstract :
This study investigates the learning styles of secondary school learners in foreign languageteaching and the possible effect of the gender variable on their learning style preferences. Thestudents, who continued the ninth, tenth and eleventh grade in 2005-2006 academic years inAydınlıkevler Anatolian Communication High School, participated in this study by filling thelearning style questionnaire. Felder and Silverman’s questionnaire was used in the study. Theresearch is consisting of 152 students. It has been found that female students preferredVisual-Verbal learning styles in the input dimension mostly. In this study, generally, it hasbeen seen that the learners prefer Visual learning style the most. Both female and malestudents preferred Visual Learning Style when the learning styles are examined separately ineach dimension. The results of the study suggest that it is necessary to benefit from thelearning styles in foreign language teaching process.
