THE VIEWS OF PRESCHOOL TEACHERS AND PARENTSON SCOLIONOPHOBIA AMONG PRESCHOOL CHILDREN
Abstract :
This study examined the opinions of teachers and parents on the issue of scolionophobiaamong preschool children. The study was conducted during the 2009-2010 academic yearsand the study group comprised 50 preschool teachers and 120 parents from Kastomonu citycenter. Two different tools, (a) Personal Information Form and (b) Interview Form were usedto gather data. In the scope of the present study, descriptive analysis” -one of the qualitativeresearch methods- was used and the percentage of the answers given by teachers and parentswere expressed and interpreted in numerical terms. Analysis of the data showed that the mainreason for the examples of scolionophobia seen in the preschool period was unwillingness tobe separated from the mother. It was also found that teachers used some strategies to help thechild overcome this fear, such as affectionate behavior, talking to the children and arrangingentertaining activities.
