THE STUDENTS’ OPINIONS ABOUT USING “BIOGRAPHY”IN SOCIAL STUDIES COURSE
Abstract :
In this study, opinions of primary students on biography usage in Social Studies Education werepresented considering the fact that people who are recognised as important and qualified provide “rolemodels” for primary students in which their personality development is completed. The study takes placein three different districts of Ankara ensampling socio-economically high (İl Genel Meclisi p.s.) medium(23 Nisan p.s.) and low (Polis Amca p.s.) enviroments during 2008-2009 Academic Year. 247 female and210 male in total 457 students of 4th to 8th grades in 30 sections from three schools above participated inthe study. During the study, students participated in a survey whose data was processed via SPSS 15.0software with chi-square test and considering α= .05 significance level. As a result, primary studentstaking Social Studies and Turkish Republic Revolution History and Kemalism express interest andopinion on studying biographies of various individuals.
