Abstract :
This study aims to evaluate ninth and tenth class history course books according to constructivist learning approach via students’ opinions. In the study, whether a meaningful difference exists in students’ opinions about their course books in the point of some variables (gender, class level, grade of history course, type of school) is questioned. The sample of the study consists of randomly selected 150 ninth and tenth class students in Iscehisar province of Afyonkarahisar city. The research has been carried out by survey model. The data has been collected by “Course book evaluation scale” consisting of 37 items. The number of items was reduced from 37 to 21 as a result of factor analysis. The data gained from the research are described by using frequency, percentage and arithmetic mean. Besides, T-test and One-Way Anova that are appropriate to the variables have been applied for independent samplings in order to identify meaningful differences. Following results have been reached as a result of data analysis: the scale has been seen to divide into two sub-dimensions (active and directing learning environment, gaining a new perspective). It has been found out that the students’ opinions about the course books’ preparation appropriate to the constructivist learning approach are generally positive and course books prepared appropriate to constructivist learning approach are effective in activating the students.
