    AN INVESTIGATION OF PRIMARY SCHOOLS TEACHERS` VIEWS ABOUT MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCE THEORY IN TERMS OF VARIOUS VARIABLES

  • Abstract
    Gardner with his “multiple intelligences theory” had extended our understanding of intelligence and called different abilities which human beings have as intelligences. The purpose of this research was to investigate the views of the primary school teachers about the multiple intelligence theory in terms of gender, age, marital status, education level and professional seniority variables. This descriptive study is performed as a survey. The universe of the research was composed of 718 primary school teachers working in the schools located in Yakutiye region of Erzurum city, in the 2009-2010 education year. 162 primary school teachers were randomly selected out of this universe. The data were collected through a questionnaire developed by Canbay (2006). The results showed that the primary school teachers` views were generally positive about multiple intelligences theory. The teachers’ views showed statistical differences in terms of age, educational level and professional seniority variables while there were no differences in terms of gender and marital status.
