THE ADAPTATION OF THE FAMILY INFLUENCE SCALE FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY STUDIES
Abstract :
The purpose of this research was to adapt the Family Influence Scale conducted by Fouad, Cotter, Fitzpatrick, Kantamneni, Carter ve Bernfeld,2010 into Turkish. In this research, the sample includes totally 506 high school students (292 girls and 214 boys). Results of the study indicates that Turkish FIS has 4 factors, and explores 58.38 percent of total variance. Cronbach Alpha coefficient for the total scale was found .77, for Information Support .89, for Financial Support .78, for Family Expectations .72, for Values and Beliefs .83. The stability coefficient for total scale which was calculated with test re-test was found significant (r = .83). These results indicated that the Turkish FIS was valid and reliable.
