Abstract :
The objective of this research is to elicit application approach of printmaking classes and evaluation of the problems encountered during its practice by the artists and the academicians who lecture or have lectured “printmaking” in undergraduate program of Art Education, The School of Education, in Turkey . The working group of this study is comprised of some academicians lecturing in the Department of Art Education in various universities like Gazi University, Ondokuz Mayis University and Marmara University; and also some artists who lecture in the field of “printmaking”. In this study qualitative research methods have been applied. The data of this study was built with observation reports, interview forms and voice records. In order to elicit the problems on the education of original printmaking, some face-to-face conversations with open-ended questions were conducted. These interviews were secured by both voice and written records, thus original printmaking workshops were evaluated regarding its convenience for art education. Data acquired was analysed by descriptions. Acording to the findings in this research; the majority of the participants emphasized that printmaking classes cannot satisfy the needs of our age, the workshops are not well-equipped, the class hours are insufficient and the fund allocated for art by the institutions is not enough. It was discovered that all those problems have some negative effects on original printmaking classes.
