Abstract :
The purpose of this study is determining the relationship between work values and organizational commitment levels of teachers. The population of this study consists of teachers working at middle schools in Osmaniye downtown in 2013-2014 academic year. 24 of these schools were selected randomly with disproportional cluster sampling method and the sample of this study consisted of the 312 teachers who were working at these schools. Data of this study that was performed at correlational design was collected through the scale of organizational commitment developed by Allen and Meyer (1991) and the scale of work values developed by Lyons (2009). After performing the reliability and validity analyses of the scales, the relationships between the variables were examined through simple and multiple linear regression analyses. The findings showed that as the relative importance of teachers’ work values increase, their organizational commitment levels increase both in general and in terms of the dimensions of affective commitment, continuance commitment and normative commitment.
