Abstract :
In Turkey where there was a great adversity of sugar during World War I and Indepence War, the enterprises for founding sugar industry of national quality started during Republican years. In 1925, Alpullu, Uşak, Eskişehir and Turhal sugar factories were opened predicating on the law of 601 couraging and enabling to found sugar factories. The second period of the foundation of sugar factories started in 1953, Erzurum Sugar Factory started to be run in 30 September 1956. The opening of the sugar factory, bringing Erzurum an image of economic, social, cultural and lively city, became an example for the facilities which would be founded later like Aşkale Çimento Factory.
