Abstract :
The folktale of “Mahmut Pehlivan” is col-lected from Dobroja. In this study the oral and the written sources of the tale are compared. The original of this folktale is told as story in Dobro-ja.which is known as the story Shah İsmail.In this research, firstly comparison between two texts. The oral variant of the text is studied using the thematic method. The similarities and differences between the folktale and the story are examined.
