Kid Names Given in Bitlis Between 1975-2009
Abstract :
In this paper given names are analysed according to name giving trends through a certain period of time in Bitlis. Half the population perefered most common hundred names for their children in this period of time. In thirty-year period raising religious names and two-named babies are remarkable changes. Most popular names are mostly from Arabian, Iranian and Turkish. Name combinations and compound names are mostly made with religious words and names. Less used names are also accounted in order to explain name giving trends reversely. At the end of the paper, a list is added which contains most popular hundred names in Bitlis between 1975 and 2009 in five-year periods.
