Abstract :
Ahmet Mithat Efendi is the second novelist that writes novel after Şemsettin Sami. In Ottoman Empire, Egypt affair which starts from 18. Century forms its most complicated situation especially in 19. Century. Conquered in 1517, but lost in 1882 from the authority of Ottoman Empire, Egypt attracted this first novelist of us and in the novels of Tanzimat age, same issued were discussed about this country. In the Tanzimat novels, Egypt territory was used as a place, novelists put aside some episodes of their novels for Egypt or Egyptians. As a Tanzimat novelist, Ahmet Mithat Efendi didn’t remain uninteresting in the issues of Egypt as well. Since we assess his novels as social, cultural, geographic, psychological and economic history of the people that lived in Ottoman Empire, in our treatise, in the novels of Ahmet Mithat Efendi, Egypt, Egypt affairs and Egyptians were taken in hand as a place factor.
