THREE CITIES IN NECIP FAZIL’S LIFE: KAHRAMANMARAŞ, KAYSERİ, ERZURUM

Necip Fazıl was born in İstanbul, lived for many years in this city, died here, even he has been one of the best poets of describing İstanbul. But, except for İstanbul three cities were very important in his life. One of them is Kahramanmaraş. It has been very important because his family were from there. He often emphazies this. According to poet Kayseri is the city where the representatives of self consciousness’ spirit have been and the people who adopted Büyük Doğu action more than anyone else have lived. Maybe Erzurum is more affecting city than İstanbul in his life. He came Erzurum many times. Especially in terms of human qualities he thinks Erzurum is significant. These three cities are handled with different properties in his many texts, literary works and especially Babıâli and O ve Ben. In this work we will discuss the meanings of these cities in Necip Fazıl’s life.
