    THE WOMAN’S SELF ACTUALIZATION IN THEATRE PLAYS CALLED ‘SACİDE’ OF ÜLKER KÖKSAL AND ‘NORA’ OF HENRIK IBSEN

  • Abstract
    There are many written works whose theme is ‘woman’ in Turkish and World literature. The plays called ‘Sacide’, written by Ülker Köksal, and ‘Nora’,written by Henrik Ibsen, are the Works may be handled in this respect. Social problems intensifying after 1960s in Turkish literature led Ulker Koksal to write the written work called Sacide. The writer focuses on a woman’s identity seek and awareness that is a social matter with Sacide that she wrote it in 1972. Rebellion to the social problems had started long before in world literature and Henrik Ibsen studied the woman’s self actualization in his play Nora in 1870. Both of the writers refer to woman matter through theatre in different time frames and show up their criticism to exploitation of the woman. In this respect, they contributed to occur an awareness also in community. It is emphasized on the image of “women” in the plays of Nora and Sacide in this study and social realities and pressures that lead the woman to self actualization are studied in this work. Topic of woman’s self actualization is the common reflection of worldview from the frames of Turkey and Norway with the help of Nora and Sacide.
