Abstract :
This study examines the association between, coping and initiating romantic intimacy at emerging adulthood. In addition to this goal, this study also examines the association between, coping and quantity of romantic intimacy. A total of 256 individuals (148 female and 108 male) completed the Coping with Stress Scale and Markers of Starting Romantic Intimacy Scale. In this study, basic regression analysis and one-way ANOVA methods were used in order to analyze the data. It is found that there was significantly positive relationships between problem focused coping, social support and initiating romantic intimacy. It is concluded that the more emerging adults experience romantic relationships the more functional coping strategies they use.
