Schools are in an intense interaction with the society and they are dynamic social institutions. Schools are loosely coupled systems with a lot of problems. In these systems, it is difficult to manage the relationships by using mechanic and strict rules as well as it may not be possible to presume the purposes of the people in these relationships. Therefore, the need for autonomously structured schools is increased in recent days. In order to achieve more autonomous schools, leadership, authority, and the conflict management are important concepts. These concepts have fundemental strength to contribute to settle autonomy in the school system. This study aims to reinterpret the mentioned concepts to investigate the integration of autonomy to the school system. In the method of the study, “Weick’s smoothly structured systems theory” was used as a basis to interpret the mentioned concepts in order to understand the school structure. As a result of the study, it was concluded that authority, leadership and conflict management requires more autonomy in the school systems within its work process and operation.
