The Relationship between Primary Students’ Acquisition Levels of SPS and their Attitudes towards Science and Success
Abstract :
The aim of this research is to determine the 7th grade students’ acquisition of science process skills (SPS) in science and technology courses. It is also aimed to determine whether there exists a relationship between their (SPS) and their attitudes towards science and academic success. For this purpose, a Science Process Skills Test (SPST) was developed and administered to students by the researcher. An Attitude towards Science Scale (ATSS) was administered to measure the interests of students towards science and technology courses. The sample consisted of 828 7th grade primary school students who were selected from 21 schools randomly in the province of Kocaeli. It was found that students’ have a medium level of SPS, and a positive and significant relationship between students’ level of SPS and their attitudes towards science and academic success.
