Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the views of teachers regarding teaching “Reproduction and Growth in Living Organisms” unit, which is included in Science Education Curriculum that was published in MEB Journal of Notifications in 2000 with the number of 2518. The teachers were asked about their opinions of the unit so that the methods, techniques and materials they used would be identified. The results of this study were compared to the results of the studies which were conducted to examine teacher views regarding 2004 curriculum. Survey model was utilized to get the teacher views and a questionnaire consisting of two parts and 27 questions was conducted on 97 Science teachers working in Bursa central towns. The findings were interpreted with frequency and percentage measures. The Science teachers who participated in the study stated positive things about the language and wording, attractiveness, visual materials and quality of the examples of the unit. On the other hand, they suggested including more effective and more daily life examples, more evaluation questions, worksheets, visual materials, methods and techniques in the curriculum that will be developed in the near future. Furthermore, it was seen that the teachers mostly used techniques such as discussion, brain storming, question-answer and materials such as coursebook and overhead projector while teaching this unit.
