Investigation of the Epistemological Beliefs of Primary School Candidate Teachers
Abstract :
This study was conducted on the second grade students of the Department of Primary Education, Faculty of Education, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. One hundred fifty candidate teachers participated to the study that was planned as a descriptive research investigating the epistemological beliefs of candidate teachers. In this study, the Central Epistemological Beliefs Scale developed by Oksal, Şenşekerci and Bilgin (2006) was used. At the end of the study the belief level of the primary school candidate teachers was found as medium. Moreover, it was revealed that the epistemological beliefs of candidate teachers do not differ significantly based on the gender and education type variables, and that the epistemological beliefs of candidate teachers taking the course of Scientific Research Methods are significantly higher than those who didn t take this course yet.
