The Effects of Using Case Study Technique At the 6th Grade Social Studies Course On Students’ Academic Achievement Attitudes Towards the Course, and Critical Thinking Skills
Abstract :
The aim of this study is to determine the effects of using case study technique at the primary school 6th grade social studies students’ critical thinking skills, course achievements, and attitudes towards the course. The study was designed pursuant to “pre-test post-test control group model”. In the study, Cornell critical thinking test, achievement test, and attitude scale were used as data gathering implements. The unit was taught on the experimental group with the activities based on the case study technique as well as on the control group with the traditional method. As a result of the study, it was indicated that the using of case study technique in primary Social Studies Course has an affirmative effect on the pupils’ critical thinking skills, the course achievements, and attitudes towards the course.
