Abstract :
This action research, carried out by a primary school English teacher and an educational researcher, investigates the impacts of the diversification of teaching methods and materials on learner’s motivation. In this research, the student attitude survey, the student opinion survey, the student motivation scale, the assessment of study and learning activities survey, the motivational strategies survey are implemented. The instructor developed learning materials to increase students’ motivation towards the course and to face their different needs of different learning styles by keeping them active during the course. The results of the application process and the evaluation results show that by the help of diversification of teaching materials and methods, the students’ motivation and the quality of learning can be promoted. This process provides an opportunity to the students to take their own responsibility of learning period and to follow their own progresses; to behave under the influence of internal motivation rather than external motivation; to be more self confident and they started to use the related knowledge into their life effectively. The continuity of classroom implementations and sharing with other teachers are recommended for future studies. This study is an example of the Teacher Leadership Project.
