Evaluation of State of Acquiring Discharge Education in Psychiatric Patients
Abstract :
Objective: In this research, it is aimed to evealute the state of acquiring hospital discharge education of patients who get service in psychiatry clinics and afterwards are discharged. Material and Methods: Sample of the research was comprised by 150 patients decided to discharged after lay down in public hospitals in the municipal boundary of Ankara Province. Research data was collected with question forms which prepared after taking expert opinion and searching the related literatures by researchers. Fisher’s Exact Test and Pearson’s chi-square test were used for evaulation of frequency and percentage values of the data. Results: 35.1% of the participants reported that it hasn’t been given any information about disease and diagnostic process to themselves and 51.1% of participants stated that they haven’t taken any information abot discharge training. Rate of patient’s relatives who recieved information for patient care have been found 39.8%. 63.3% of patients reported that they wanted to train their own caregivers. 26.7% of patients indicated that they haven’t felt ready to discharged yet and the vast majority of patients gave the answer that to be given detailed information on everything against the question that what done you want them to make you feel ready yourself for discharging. Conclusion: In this study, we found out that patients in psychiatry clinic were not regularly being informed about discharge from the hospital.
