Abstract :
Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of pilates based exercises on pain, depression symptoms, quality of life and posture in women Materials and Methods: This was a randomized study. Participants were recruited and randomly divided into 2 groups: a exercise group (n = 11), and a control group (n = 11). The exercise group underwent related training programs for 3 month, while the controls had no specific training. After demographic knowledge were collected, participants were evaluated using the Visuel Analog Scale (VAS), the New York Posture Test (NYP),Waist/ Hip ratio (WHR), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Notthingham Health Profile (NHP) at the baseline and after 12 weeks of training. Results: Differences were observed for NYP, Body Mass Index and WHR in the exercise group between baseline and week 12 (P 0.05) and these parameters were not significantly different in the control group between baseline and week 12 (P 0.05). Conclusion: Pilates based exercises should be effective on posture and body composition in women.
