Macro-Anatomical Investigations on Skeletons of Teal (Anas crecca) I. Skeleton Axiale
Abstract :
The aim of this research was to investigate the axial skeleton of teal (Anas crecca). In the study, it was investigated the macro-anatomic features of bones of axial skeleton in adult four teals, nonconsidering the sex variations by maceration. The results had showed that the interparietal bone was absent and there were two fontanellas as foramen. The vomer bone that could be sometimes absent in various avian species was prominent. Teal had fourteen cervical and nine thoracic vertebraes. Laterocranial process and lateral trabecule were defined on sternum in teal. There were nine pairs of ribs. The last three ribs haven’t got processus uncinatus.
