Title Of Article :
Seroprevalence of Listeria monocytogenes in Donkeys in Erzurum Province
Abstract :
The aim of this study was to determine the seroprevalence of Listeria monocytogenes in donkeys in Erzurum province. Sera samples that coming from 92 clinically healty donkeys were tested against L.monocytogenes antibodies with Osebold adsorbtion test. 38 (41.30%) out of 92 sera were found positive at different dilutions. 29 of 38 (76.32%) sera were found positive at 1/100 dilution, and 9 of 38 (23.68%) were positive at 1/200 dilutions. Seropositivitiy of L.monocytogenes was 38.89% in males and 42.86% in females. And seropositivity rates were 34.15%, 47.62%, 50% and 33.33%, in 0-3, 4-7, 8- 11 and 12-15 age groups respectively. There was a statistically insignificant between the sex (p 0,05), but an important statistical difference between the age groups were determined (p 0,01). It was concluded that the donkeys could be a potential reservoir of the listeriosis due to high seroprevalence of the infection (41.30%) with was detected by Osebold absorption test, however the donkeys could be and infections source for both human and animals.
