Macro-Anatomical Study of Ossa Membri Thoracici in the Lynx (Lynx lynx)
Abstract :
The aim of this study was to investigate the bones of the thoracic limb in the lynx (Lynx lynx). For this purpose, a total of 2 lynxes were used. Supraspinous fossa was wider than infraspinous fossa. There was a developed acromion, hamate process and suprahamate process which curved to infraspinous fossa. There was no the glenoid notch. The greater tubercle was at the same level with head of humerus. The deltoid tuberosity was indistinct. The supracondylar foramen was present on the medial epicondyle. Joints were present between the proximal and distal parts of the radius and ulna. The radial tuberosity was indistinct. Tuber olecrani had one process. Five metacarpal bones were present in the thoracic limbs of lynx. The first metacarpal bone was smaller than the others. In conclusion, it was determined that the thoracic limbs of lynx had many spesific features.
