Abstract :
This study, it was made on intestinal helminth fauna of pike (Esox lucius L., 1758) in Lake Karamık and 2 parasite species were recorded. From these species, Raphidascaris acus (Nematoda) infection prevalence %18.8; mean parasite number and standart deviation 2.9±3.8 were determined. Another species, Acanthocephalus lucii (Acanthocephala)’s ifection value is found %10.9; 1.4±0.7. The helminth fauna of the host fish was evaluated according to seasons, host fish age and sex groups. R. acus infection was recorded at all seasons except summer, and the highest infection prevalence was recorded in the spring (46.1%), and the highest parasite intensity was recorded in the winter period (4.2). A. lucii infection occurred in spring and winter, and the infection values of the parasites are higher in the winter period. It was noted that R. acus existed in all host fishes of group II, III and IV. The highest prevalence of infection with the parasite was recorded in the largest age group of fish. And parasitic intensity is higher in small and middle age groups than in older age groups. Similar infections are also available for A. lucii. While the parasite intensity of R. acus is recorded more in male fish, the prevalence of infection is higher in female fishes. Both of A.lucii infestation prevalence and parasite density are higher in female fish. Other hand, these species are new record for the present study area. Anatomic and morphologic features of the parasitic species were determined.
