Student Opinions on the Use of the Cooperative Method in Physics Education
Abstract :
Cooperation based learning approach is a study method where learners compensate for the deficiencies of each other by creating small groups towards a common target they determined. This study examines the views of students about cooperation based learning approach. The aim of this study is to determine the aspects that students benefit from cooperation based learning approaches and their attitudes towards this approach. To that end, cooperation based learning approach was used in first-grade students of the Department of Physics Education of Faculty of Education, Gazi University, within the scope of Physics-I course for 10 weeks period. At the end of this period, the views of students were taken in written and data were obtained through the application of semi-structured evaluation form. Descriptive and content analyses were made on obtained data. The results indicated that students had positive opinions about cooperation based learning approach in terms of their increased participation in lessons, the increase in academic success and development in their friendship relations.
