Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of using cartoons in teaching environmental problems in Bridges between Countries Unit existing in Social Studies Course for 7th grades on student academic success. Working group of the study consisted of 13 students of 7th grade, who were in experimental group, from Mehmetçik Primary School in Mamak, Ankara and 19 students of 7th grade for control group. A 20-item multiple-choice test was used to gather data. The data was analyzed by SPSS package program. Results indicated that the use of cartoons in teaching environmental problems increased students academic success.
