The Evaluation of Cursive Italic Hand Writing Success Level of Primary School Students, Teachers of Primary Education and Turkish Language
Abstract :
The aim of this study is to evaluate cursive italic hand writing success level of primary school students, teachers of primary education and Turkish language. Dictation text and cursive italic handwriting analytical scoring key were used to evaluate the competencies of the teachers and students in cursive italic hand writing. To ensure the validity of the measurement tools, literature search and expert opinions were consulted. For the reliability of scoring keys, adaptation level among encoders were observed (from 912 to 943; p 0.01). According to the results of our study, even if teachers of primary education (X bar=3.12) seem a bit ahead of teachers of Turkish language ( X bar=3.01), the success of both groups in cursive italic handwriting is moderate. When we have a look at the success level of the students, it is seen that the ones, who were taught with cursive italic handwriting at the beginning of their education, were more successful when compared with others.
