An Investigation of Preservice Biology Teachers’ Self-Efficacy Beliefs Regarding the Application of Teaching Methods and Techniques
Abstract :
The aim of the study is to determine preservice biology teachers’ self-efficacy beliefs regarding the application of teaching methods and techniques. The study was based on survey model. The participants were the preservice biology teachers enrolled in Gazi Faculty of Education and in the program of pedagogical competency at Gazi University. The efficacy scale of biology teaching methods and techniques, which was developed by the researchers, was used to collect data The Cronbach alpha value of the scale was determined as .87 The data collected were analyzed with SPSS using t-test, ANOVA and the values of frequency, mean, standard deviation were provided. The results revealed that preservice biology teachers’ self-efficacy beliefs regarding the teaching methods and techniques were differed significantly in accordance with variables such as whether there are any teachers in the family and their level of knowledge.
