Evaluatıon of the Developmental Stages of the Chıldren with Hearıng Loss by Gazi Early Childhood Assessment Tool
Abstract :
Early diagnosis of the children with prelingual hearing loss (CPHL) is important for maintenance of developmental steps. Gazi Early Childhood Assessment Tool (GEÇDA) has been developed for the assessment of developmental areas during early childhood. Our purpose was to evaluate its sensitivity to hearing-thresholds, durations of diagnosis, device- use and special education in CPHL. We included 40 CPHL and 40 controls, and observed that CPHL were classified in low-limit of all areas. The worse hearing is the lower linguistic, cognitive and psychomotorscores are. Additionally when the duration of special education and device-use increases, the scores in the developmental areas are higher. Hence, we may conclude that GEÇDA is practical tool for evaluation of developmental steps in CPHL.
