Examination of Self-Esteem Levels of Physical Education Teacher Candidates According to the Different Variables
Abstract :
The study aims to determine self-esteem levels of teacher candidates and to examine that in terms of gender and being interested in sport variables. Study group is comprised by 453 teacher candidates consist of 232(51%) female and 221 (49%) male (X age=21.75±2.06). Self-Esteem Scale is applied to the students as a data collection tool. In data analysis, one-way variance analysis and t-test for determining difference between arithmetic averages in independent groups are applied. According to the findings; generally the self-esteem level of the teacher candidates were found to be high. As a result of research, it is concluded that physical education and sport activities have positive effect on self-esteem as well as on many fields; and the level of taking part in activities has effect on self-esteem levels.
