Abstract :
The aim of present study is to investigate the effect of computer assisted instruction in environmental education on the achievement of pre-service teachers about matter cycle topic. In this study, experimental design is used in order to compare the effects of computer assisted instruction and traditional teaching in terms of pre-service teachers’ success. 71 pre-service teachers participated in the study for four weeks. For data collection, matter cycle achievement test and interview form are used. In the analyses of quantitative data are analyzed through SPSS13 Packed Program while qualitative data are analyzed using content analysis. In the evaluation of data, t-test is conducted to analyze data concerning quantitative part and, frequency tables are used to understand qualitative data. The results of the study reveal that experimental group significantly differs from control group in terms of the achievement on matter cycle topic. Concerning qualitative data participants indicate mostly some advantages of using computer assisted instruction such as using animations, being visual and attractive and retention.
