Abstract :
The aim of this action research is to determine the impact of argumentation on eliminating the confusion in concepts of melting-dissolving for the case of fourth grade students, as well as on their argumentation levels. 15 students from a village school were attended the study. Data were collected by means of worksheets used during the study, conceptual understanding tests that were applied in a pre-post test pattern, andnotes of the researching teacher, and analysed qualitatively. It was found that argumentation has positive impact on eliminating the target concept confusion. Moreover, it was determined that the source of concept confusion is dissolving rather than melting, and that the concept of dissolving is confused with concepts of disintegration, dispersion and mixture. It was observed that the argumentation levels of the students increased when the process concluded.
