The Relationship between Leadership Styles of School Principals and Organizational Cynicism based on the Perceptions of Vocational and Technical High School Teachers
Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between leadership styles of school principals and organizational cynicism based on the perceptions of teachers who serve at vocational and technical high schools. 1090 teachers who serve at vocational and technical high schools in Altındağ district, Ankara Province in 2012-2013 academic year constituted the population and 201 vocational and technical high school teachers selected by random sampling constituted the sampling of the study. The negative and significant relationship between the school principal s transformational leadership style and organizational cynicism of all subscales were found. The negative and significant relationship between transactional leadership style and the cognitive and affective cynicism dimensions of organizational cynicism, the positive and significant relationship between transactional leadership style and the behavioral cynicism dimension of organizational cynicism were found. Also, the school principal’s transformational and transactional leadership styles were found to be significant predictor of cognitive, affective and behavioral cynicism dimensions of organizational cynicism.
