Fulfillment States of Education Inspectors’ Guiding to Teachers Task
Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to reveal to what extent inspectors fulfill their duties of guidance to teachers, the reasons that prevent them from fulfilling their duties; the crucial side of guidance process and what should be done for an effective guidance. This research is a descriptive study that is based on the inspectors and teachers perceptions. It was carried out with the participation of 10 education inspectors and 20 teachers in Izmir. Data were collected using a questionnaire which consists of semi-structured open-ended questions. Descriptive analysis was used as the data analysis technique. Some findings of the research are as follows: To the inspectors, their heavy workload reduces the quality of the guidance and inspection they carried out. Both inspectors and teachers emphasize that there are many factors that prevent the inspectors from carrying out their guidance duty in real terms. For its being effective, the guidance must be done at the time and place that the teachers wish and decide.
