Abstract :
It is a fact that each branch of educational sciences displays a multidisciplinary and/or inter-disciplinary characteristic. Simultaneous development of inter-disciplinary relationships is important to increase the effectiveness of teaching and learning process in Science and Technology Education, Social Studies and Mathematics courses. This study primarily investigates the inter-disciplinary relationships among Science Education and Social Studies as well as Mathematics Education curricula at the elementary level. These relationships play a crucial role in learning process of these subjects. Since such subjects have related objectives regarding the ratios and proportions, these concepts are needed to be identified and examined. This study therefore compares and contrasts the related objectives of these subjects at the elementary level. The study clearly and surprisingly suggests that the objectives of these subjects are not simultaneous in scope and sequence of curriculum planning. In conclusion, the study points out important suggestions concerning the proper use of objectives for a sound curriculum planning of both subjects.
