Abstract :
The main purpose of this research is to reveal the perceptions of the newly charged teachers about the concept of inspectorship by means of metaphors. Metaphors are comparisons that turn the hard to understand subjects into easy to understand ones with the help of familiar concepts. 82 of the teachers, that were nominated in primary schools in the city centre of Hakkari province in November 2008 and who took the “Basic Education Course” form the universe and the illustration of the research. These teachers were contacted during the “Basic Education Course” that was held in March – April 2009. The teachers were asked an open ended question. The question was “ An inspector is like ... Because ...”. In this wise each teacher was expected to produce a metaphor related to the concept of inspectorship. 76 of 82 surveys were evaluated. The data about how the candidate teachers perceive the inspectors was reached as a result of the research. The aim of choosing the newly charged teachers was to reveal the new teachers‟ inspector images by considering their first time to meet the inspectors.
